Rheumatic diseases range from the very common osteoarthritis to more complex illnesses, such as Systemic  Lupus Erythematosus. There are many causes of Arthritis, and  is important that the condition be diagnosed accurately so that proper treatment can be provided. Left untreated, these diseases can lead to joint deformities and serious disability leading to difficulties with activities of daily living.  Early diagnosis and intervention are key to preventing joint damage. Working in partnership with your Primary Care Physician, our Board Certified Rheumatologist will help you regain a healthier, more active lifestyle.

Advanced imaging technology.

The Brooklyn Hospital Center provides a full range of radiologic services. In addition, the Rheumatology Division uses musculoskeletal ultrasound, which are high-frequency sound waves, that create detailed pictures allowing extremely accurate needle placement when performing joint injections.

Infusion therapy, the relaxing way.

Some of the newest rheumatology treatments require infusion therapy. The Brooklyn Hospital’s Infusion Center was recently outfitted with new state-of-the-art chairs designed to keep patients comfortable. Offering a truly healing atmosphere, the Center has beautiful views of Fort Greene Park, cable television, reading material, complimentary meals, and a waiting area for adults and children.

Individualized treatment in a full-service hospital.

Your Brooklyn Hospital Center Rheumatologist will create a treatment plan designed specifically for you. Should you need an additional specialist—such as an orthopedic surgeon or physical therapist—all treatment will be coordinated for you to ensure quality of care.

X-ray films are read by our Board Certified Bone and Joint Radiologist.
