Named a High Performing Hospital for Heart Failure Care by U.S. News & World Report for 2016–17, and awarded the 2017 Gold Plus honor for heart failure care by the American Heart Association, TBHC has filled a need for local accessibility to outstanding heart care designed to help people live longer, healthier lives. Under the leadership of Dr. Sarath Reddy, MD, Chief of Cardiology, and PCI Director Srinivas Kesanakurthy, MD, we are pleased to announce the debut of The Brooklyn Heart Center, a comprehensive approach to cardiac care.
The Brooklyn Heart Center is an enhancement of the cardiac-care services available at TBHC, designed to offer state-of-the-art percutaneous coronary interventions (PCI) and electro-physiology (EP) procedures and preventative measures. A clinical collaboration with Mount Sinai Heart, The Brooklyn Heart Center offers care options that benefit more patients by building on our current, excellent cardiology services.
The expansion and changes to the cardiovascular services offered at TBHC are in keeping with our mission to provide the best and most comprehensive quality care right here in Brooklyn. For many years, our community has lacked access to the kind of sophisticated services necessary to meet cardiovascular health needs. The result has been a significant number of preventable deaths and higher than predicted illness from cardiovascular disease. In a coordinated and aggressive effort to address this public health issue, The Brooklyn Heart Center now provides preventative, diagnostic, elective, and emergency cardiac care for residents of Brooklyn. This means that people in our community have renewed access to world class cardiovascular care, and can turn to TBHC for all of their heart-health needs, while remaining close to home.
The Brooklyn Heart Center is not just limited to world-class cardiovascular care. Our tagline is Keeping Brooklyn Healthy, and TBHC is doing just that. Future plans for The Brooklyn Heart Center include fostering clinical collaborations between cardiology and other services such as bariatric surgery, podiatry, and vascular, and establishing congestive heart failure and pulmonary hypertension clinics.
When every second counts, you can count on TBHC — before, during, and after a cardiac event.

Spotlight Physician: Srinivas Kesanakurthy, MD
As the Program Director of The Brooklyn Heart Center, Dr. Kesanakurthy (aka “Dr. Srini”) is committed to the expansion of high-quality, sophisticated, cardiac care services in Brooklyn. Last spring, when TBHC expanded its cardiac catheterization program with PCI (percutaneous coronary intervention) capabilities, its goal was to provide expert clinical care, and a personalized experience to Brooklyn patients and their families. Since then, Dr. Srini and his team have begun to do just that.
“It is important for my patients to feel that their hospital can provide for them, at all stages of the cardiovascular care spectrum. I am proud to say that most patients no longer need to cross the bridge into Manhattan to have access to the services they need. With the expansion of The Brooklyn Heart Center the highest quality care is in their backyard — the best physicians, the best technology, and the best experience for patients and families.”
Dr. Srinivas Kesanakurthy graduated from Rangaraya Medical College in 1990. He completed his residency in Internal Medicine at Lennox Hill Hospital in 1998, and two fellowships in Clinical, and Interventional Cardiology in 2004 and 2005, respectively. He is board-certified in Internal Medicine and Cardiology.
