Great Day for a National Night Out

Great Day for a National Night Out

September 15, 2011

Strange but true, some of the best activities during National Night Out, which was held twenty-eight years running in various locations throughout the country, actually happened during the day! The Brooklyn Hospital Center joined several other participants in Fort Greene Park this summer for a day of fun and festivities.

National Night Out began as an effort to heighten crime and drug prevention but has since expanded into a true celebration of local culture, with local merchants and community groups showcasing their goods and services to the public.

Our table featured free health screenings, cancer and HIV/AIDS education, smoking cessation counseling, and information on affordable health insurance options, breast feeding education and more.
