It was just another Wednesday for Sunnia Carberry and her baby son Jaylen, until the four-month-old became unconscious and unresponsive for no apparent reason inside a bank on Fulton Street.
Sunnia called 911 and in just minutes NYPD officers Jeff Boardman and Anthony Isaac provided emergency care at the scene.
Fire and EMS officials arrived shortly later and took Jaylen to The Brooklyn Hospital Center where he was admitted to the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU).
“Our PICU provides state-of-the-art care for kids in need,” said Dr. Adebayo Adeyinka, a pediatric intensive care specialist at the hospital.
“We provide coverage 24-hour-a-day, seven days a week,” he said, adding, “There are three things you need when caring for urgently sick kids and their very worried parents—the right expertise, the right equipment and compassion. I’m proud to say we’ve got all three.”
Sunnia Carberry agrees. She says The Brooklyn Hospital Center did a great job taking care of her and her son in their hour of need.Return to Success Stories
