The Brooklyn Hospital Center Holds Annual Successful Heath Fair
September 19, 2018Scores of local residents were treated to free health screenings, medical information, face painting, music and fun at The Brooklyn Hospital Center’s (TBHC) annual Saturday in the Park Community Health Fair held in Brooklyn’s historic Fort Greene Park on September 15.
“TBHC is proud to serve the community at this annual event,” says Gary G. Terrinoni, President and CEO of TBHC. “Throughout the year, we also go to our community partners’ events and, through lectures, screening and education, we help prevent and detect diabetes, cardiovascular disease, high blood pressure and other illnesses that can lead to serious health challenges if left undiagnosed or untreated.”
Highlights of the day included a Teddy Bear Clinic, where local children had stuffed animals “sutured” by resident physicians and “examined” by a simulator imaging machine. The portable machine is used in simulations to teach medical students and other clinicians. Kids also got to check out the inside of a TBHC ambulance.
TBHC extends thanks to this years’ sponsors including Empire BlueCross/Blue Shield; UnitedHealthcare and Municipal Credit Union (MCU).
