Community, Corporate and Legislative Breakfast with Congressman of District 8, Hakeem Jeffries
July 20, 2016On Monday morning, July 11, 2016, key Brooklyn thought leaders came together at Brooklyn Law School to hear from the Host, The Brooklyn Hospital Center, President and CEO, Gary Terrinoni and Congressman of the 8th District, Hakeem Jeffries about healthcare in Brooklyn and the future plans of the Brooklyn Hospital Center. Before Mr. Terrinoni spoke, he was presented with a Proclamation from Eric Adams, Brooklyn Borough President’s office, Jeff Lowell, Policy Analyst, designating Monday, July 11, 2016 as “Good Neighbor” day. The Good Neighbors campaign has recently been rolled out to celebrate and promote TBHC’s "taking care of our own", and working locally with Downtown Brooklyn's community leaders to improve the healthcare status of all residents.
Congressman Jeffries, no stranger to national coverage in his role as member of the House Judiciary Committee, House Education and the Workforce Committee, and Whip of the Congressional Black Caucus, discussed the overall need of healthcare in Brooklyn in all of its neighborhoods as well as the current state of America.
Other legislative leaders in attendance were Senator Roxanne Persaud of District 19, District Attorney Kenneth Thompson, Gigi Davis-Elliott representing Councilman Walter Mosley’s office and M. Umair Khon, Esq, representing Letitia James, Public Advocate’s office.
Clergy representing local churches and mosques were in attendance as well.
