Founders Ball to Highlight The Brooklyn Hospital Center and Mount Sinai Heart Collaboration
July 16, 2018Sponsors Celebrate Internationally and Locally Recognized Honorees Thursday, October 18, 6:30pm at NY Marriott/Brooklyn Bridge, 333 Adams Street
Key sponsors and celebrities are showing their support of Brooklyn Hospital Foundation’s 2018 Founders Ball which will celebrate the recent collaboration of The Brooklyn Hospital Center (TBHC) and Mount Sinai Heart. This partnership is providing extraordinary access to comprehensive cardiac care in Downtown Brooklyn. The alliance makes it possible for TBHC to offer sophisticated preventive, diagnostic, interventional and treatment services such as electrophysiology (EP) studies and percutaneous coronary interventions (PCI).
The Brooklyn Hospital Foundation’s Founders Ball is one of Brooklyn’s largest fundraising events and since 1998, has raised money to fund critical clinical advancements such as the new Heart Center. Last year's Gala financed the Simbionix GI-BRONCH Mentor System, a tool that is used by residents and physicians to practice procedures, as well as a transformative, hospital-wide patient education and entertainment portal that serves every patient bed.
This year’s honorees include five exceptional individuals who are making tremendous contributions to the Brooklyn community on both a professional and personal levels:
- Srinivas Kesanakurthy, MD, Director, The Brooklyn Heart Center & Cardiac Catheterization Lab
- Nelson S. Menezes, MD, Chief, Division of Vascular Surgery, TBHC
- David Schwartz, Co-Founder & Principal, Slate Property Group
- Samin K. Sharma, MD, FACC, FSCAI, Director of Clinical and Interventional Cardiology, The Mount Sinai Hospital
- Earl D. Weiner; Vice Chair, TBHC Board of Trustees and Retired Counsel, Sullivan & Cromwell
The theme of the evening “The Brooklyn Hospital Center -Right in the Heart of Brooklyn” will demonstrate the many ways TBHC is at the heart or center of medical advancements. It is also the heart of the region, having served the area for almost 175 years (2020 will be TBHC’s official 175th anniversary) and its focus on patient safety and convenience shows it has heart when it comes to those it serves. Tony Award-winning playwright, screenwriter and TV writer David Henry Hwang, whose works include “M. Butterfly,” the Broadway musical “Aida” and “Chinglish,” will be among the celebrity guests at the star-studded event. His life was saved in 2015 by TBHC after a random stabbing just outside his home in Brooklyn.
The evening schedule is as follows:
6:00 - 7:30pm VIP Cocktails/Press Party with Honorees and Celebrity Guests
6:30 - 7:30 pm Reception Cocktails
7:30 – 9:00pm Awards Program and Dinner
