Submit Your Nominations of Iconic Brooklyn Individuals and Institutions for 175th Anniversary Medalist Award

    May 1, 2019

The Brooklyn Hospital Foundation is now accepting nominations from the public for 175th Anniversary Medalists. Over the next three years we will recognize 175 remarkable individuals and institutions from Brooklyn’s past and present. 175th Anniversary Medalist nominees embody the spirit of community service and have made a unique contribution to the depth, breadth, individuality and well-being of Brooklyn. Nominees are those individuals and institutions that have helped to produce one of the world’s most dynamic and sought-after places to live, work and raise families.

The three-year celebration commemorates The Brooklyn Hospital Center’s founding in 1845 and will offer a variety of historic programming and events in partnership with iconic Brooklyn institutions. The inaugural 175th Anniversary Celebration event, held on January 31, 2019, recognized our first three medalists: New York City Council Majority Leader, Laurie Cumbo; iconic poet, Walt Whitman (accepted by Brad Vogel of the Walt Whitman Initiative); and the Fort Greene Park Conservancy.
