TBHC in the Community

In addition to hosting several community events, The Brooklyn Hospital Center, though our active Community Affairs Department, provides screenings, speakers and information for many events throughout Brooklyn, often in collaboration with our community partners.     Flowers of Hope

    Youth & mentors of Big Brothers Big Sisters of New York City  will come together to brighten someone’s day by creating positive, uplifting messages that are attached to flowers and will hand them out to visitors as they enter the lobby of the hospital:

    Thursday, December 15, 2016 11:30 AM to 1: 30 PM - Holiday Sing A-Long with The Brooklyn Hospital Center Community Advisory Board

    On Thursday, December 15, 2016,  Reverend Earl Jones, Sr., Chair, of the Community Advisory Board of The Brooklyn Hospital Center, will lead his Choir from First Calvary Baptist Church, 953 Putnam Avenue, Brooklyn, NY 11221 in the Lobby of The Brooklyn Hospital in holiday songs.  Each year, Reverend comes to TBHC with gifts to distribute to children who might not otherwise enjoy gifts for the holidays.   The signing will take place in the lobby around TBHC's Holiday Tree.  Refreshments and cookies will be served.  All are in invited.

    World AIDS Day - December 1, 2016

    On December 1, 2016, The Brooklyn Hospital Center will Acknowledge World AIDS Day in the main Campus Hospital Lobby.  An Exhibit will display an historical timeline from when the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention first reported and published the first mention of what was later determined to be HIV.

    On Thursday, November 3rd, 2016, the Brooklyn Hospital Center celebrated and introduced its Hospitalist Service to the Brooklyn Community.  Jonathan Martinez, MD, TBHC Hospitalist Program Director, oversees seven hospitalist physicians.

    Downtown BK Community Health Expo 2015

    Outside the hospital on Ashland Place between DeKalb Avenue and Willoughby Street

    The Brooklyn Hospital Center, in conjunction with Long Island University and the hospital’s Community Advisory Board, will hold a health expo outside of the hospital on Ashland Place on June 6 from 11 am to 3 pm. The expo will pair live music and family-friendly activities with critical health screenings and education aimed at improving the physical and emotional wellness of community residents. Some of the planned activities include rock climbing, pony rides, and exercise demonstrations including yoga and Zumba.
