On Tuesday, May 9 2017, The Brooklyn Hospital Center held their 3rd Annual Community, Corporate and Legislative Breakfast at the Brooklyn Law School, gathering Brooklyn's leaders to talk about "Building Brooklyn's Future" Keynote Speaker Congressman Hakeem Jeffries again graced the stage. While national health care policies are undergoing changes, Congressman Jeffries said that it is essential that TBHC, the hospital he was born in, receive its fair share of government funding to ensure all residents have access to quality, affordable health care.
In addition, special award presentations were made to key people in the local community. This year, the Inaugural Corporate Service Award went to Raymond Ayala of JP Morgan Chase the Inaugural Good Citizen Award went to Alan Washington of The Downtown Brooklyn Partnership; the Inaugural Community Advocate award went to Roberto Valentin for childhood cancer and blood disorders and TBHC's Inaugural Community Service Award went to TBHC's Sakibeh Mustafa for here years of dedicated services to the hospital t the city. Leroy Charles, TBHC’s Vice President for External Affairs, who served as master of ceremonies, said: “We want to thank the community, elected officials and corporate partners who came out today for their support as we continue to build upon our long tradition of outstanding service by keeping Brooklyn healthy.”
