    Designer, Writer, Dancer, Orthopaedic Patient

    At age 77, Park Slope, Brooklyn resident Elspeth Macdonald is dancing again. Seven years ago, this designer, teacher and writer walked with pain. “I knew I needed a knee replacement in 2010,” Ms. Macdonald says. “But I was scared, and the orthopaedic surgeon I saw at another hospital was terse and did little to put me at ease.” So, she waited. Then last year, when she could wait no longer, her acupuncturist told her, “Go to Dr. Joseph Fetto at The Brooklyn Hospital Center.”

    Scores of local residents were treated to free health screenings, medical information, face painting, music and fun at The Brooklyn Hospital Center’s (TBHC) annual Saturday in the ParkCommunity Health Fair held in Brooklyn’s historic Fort Greene Park on September 15.

    The Brooklyn Hospital Center (TBHC) launched Epic in its ambulatory care network sites. Epic is the most widely-used and comprehensive electronic health records system and provides a platform for integrated care to ensure patients have convenient digital access to their health information.

    New Chair for the Board of Trustees at The Brooklyn Hospital Center

    Nurse, attorney and local Brooklynite, Lizanne Fontaine, was recently named Chair of the Board of Trustees of The Brooklyn Hospital Center (TBHC), the oldest hospital in the borough and the only hospital located in Downtown Brooklyn. She is the first nurse in the hospital’s history to serve in this position.

    Congratulations on your appointment as Board Chair for The Brooklyn Hospital Center.

    Thank you! I am delighted to have this opportunity. Since I joined the Board in 2002, I had a front row seat to see what good board leadership looks like. I learned a lot from previous Chairs, Carlos Naudon and Jonathan Weld. I am also looking forward to working closely with our President, Gary Terrinoni, and his team to help move the hospital’s mission forward.
