TBHC Sends Kids Back to School with Backpacks and Supplies
In cooperation with Long Island University (LIU), the event was held at LIU’s Paramount Gym, 1 University Place in Brooklyn. Each child enjoyed a day of fun activities, food and music and left with a free backpack filled with September school supplies. The event was headed by Lori Lerma, Director of the Child Life Program at TBHC. “We want our kids and their brothers and sisters to succeed at school. Lack of the ability to cover the cost of supplies should not be a barrier to educational success. And we wanted them to have fun and know that we believe in them!” says Lerma.

TBHC Opens New Outpatient Pharmacy
The Brooklyn Hospital Center’s Outpatient Pharmacy is now open and dispensing prescriptions for patients, hospital employees and the Downtown Brooklyn community. Robert DiGregorio, PharmD, Senior Director, Pharmacy at The Brooklyn Hospital Center (TBHC), said The Outpatient Pharmacy is designed to help patients, employees and the community manage all of their medication needs, including prescription and over-the-counter medications, as well as vitamins.

OP-ED: Brooklyn Growing Rapidly: The Need for a Modernized Emergency Department at The Brooklyn Hospital Center
The Brooklyn Hospital Center (TBHC) recently received a $25 million Statewide Health Care Facility Transformation Program grant award from The New York State Department of Health to modernize our Emergency Department (ED) facilities and improve access to quality care. This funding will ensure that TBHC addresses urgent and emergent services for Brooklynites while we continue collaborations with other community-based providers including skilled nursing facilities and federally qualified health centers to provide the best care in the appropriate setting for our residents.

TBHC Celebrates Annual ‘Saturday in the Park’ Community Health Fair
Scores of local residents were treated to free health screenings, medical information, face painting, music and fun at The Brooklyn Hospital Center’s annual Saturday in the Park Community Health Fair held in Brooklyn’s historic Fort Greene Park on August 12. “Keeping Brooklyn Healthy is our mission,” said Gary G. Terrinoni, President and Chief Operating Officer of The Brooklyn Hospital Center (TBHC). “We were able to assist local residents by allowing them to talk to physicians and healthcare providers and learn about the many health and wellness services we offer at TBHC.
