Toy Drive

Dear Friends of The Brooklyn Hospital Center and Child Life Program,

We are very excited to begin to prepare for the holiday season. As we approach the upcoming 2017 holiday season, we are contacting you to provide some helpful reminders as you start to plan your holiday gift-giving for our pediatric patients!

Child Life will directly coordinate holiday gift inquiries and arrangements now through December 22nd. Our period for receiving/accepting holiday donations by mail or drop-off is December 1st through 22nd. Please email or call Lori Lerma to discuss your desire to donate and to learn more about our gift needs for our hospitalized children. On the right side of this page, for your convenience, is a suggested toy list for review. This list represents age-appropriate gift ideas. We also accept gift cards in value from $5.00 – $25.00.

Please keep the following in mind:

  • All donations to our department must be pre-arranged and delivery pre-scheduled.
  • All gifts must be new and unwrapped.
  • Many donors are interested in gifts that can benefit hospitalized children throughout the year. If interested in a donation of this kind, please feel free to contact me directly at any time.
  • To protect our patients from infection we cannot accept stuffed animals or handmade items.

If you prefer to make your Holiday donation through a tax-deductible gift, you may make a donation of any size and let us pick out the gifts we need most. You can accomplish this by sending a check made payable to The Brooklyn Hospital Foundation, earmarked for the Child Life Holiday Toy Drive. You can also make this gift online at However you choose to make your gift, please know it will be deeply appreciated.

Please note: Sick children are always at risk for infections. To protect our patients, we are not able to accept homemade items or stuffed animals. Also, due to patient confidentiality and infection control, donors are not able to deliver gifts directly to children. All items must be new and in original packaging. Religious items and items of a violent nature are discouraged.

We are hoping to provide a happy and cheerful holiday season for our children and families this year and greatly appreciate your support.

Thank You,

Lori Lerma
