TBHC’s quality and patient safety initiatives are headed by Vasantha Kondamudi, Executive Vice President, Network Physician Executive, who leads a team of dedicated staff and has designed a comprehensive program in collaboration with senior management, departmental chairpersons, and clinical and operations teams working at all levels.
TBHC is the Best in Brooklyn, having earned the highest grade of all Brooklyn hospitals for our commitment to keeping patients safe as measured by the Leapfrog Hospital Safety Grade. In fact, no other hospital in New York City received a B like we did, and only one received an A, as shown on this map. The Leapfrog Group is a national nonprofit healthcare ratings organization that grades approximately 2,000 hospitals across the country on how well they keep patients safe from harm.
The hospital has made changes in practices and processes, including launching the Center for Critical Care Services. Daily, the hospital’s most experienced intensivists gather with an interdisciplinary group of healthcare professionals who play a role in managing Intensive care patients.
Focused efforts like these throughout the hospital and at all levels have led to national recognitions, as shown here.
