Marcia Nelson, RN, RPH, DO, is the Chief of Geriatrics and Palliative Care at The Brooklyn Hospital Center. She joined the hospital after serving as Director of the Acute Care for the Elders (ACE) Unit, and a Teaching Attending at Maimonides Medical Center for thirteen years. She received her medical degree from New York College of Osteopathic Medicine. She completed her residency and geriatric fellowship at Maimonides Medical Center. Dr. Nelson earned her RN degree in England and worked as a Head Nurse at Wyckoff Heights Hospital. She also has a BS in Pharmacy from St. John’s University. She was the Physician Champion for the NICHE program at Maimonides Medical Center. She also volunteered with the Brookdale Center for Aging as a mentor for minority high school students.
At The Brooklyn hospital Center, Dr. Nelson will be involved in expanding the geriatric programs (e.g., house calls, faculty practice) and optimizing the care of the elderly through patient-centered and family collaboration.
